How to Dress for a First Date When You ARe Trying to Get Your Groove Back

Sexy Mama / May 11, 2017

Moms, I know many of us have been out of the dating game for awhile and it is hard to jump back in after so long. Let’s be honest, things have changed and it is way different than it was 10 years ago.  Heck, it it is different than it was 5 minutes ago! If you are 40 and over, you may be thinking that love is no longer in the cards and once you find someone worthy of a date, I know you are wondering, “what the hell am I doing?” Don’t trip! It’s easier to get back into the saddle than you think. Don’t let your age or the fact that you have been out of the dating game discourage you. You will be fine.

Once you’ve gotten yourself a first date with a man that is worthy of your time and effort, you are already winning! I know that you are probably a bit nervous but relax, it will be okay. Note that I said, “worthy” of your time and effort, so if you are going out with an old friend, your neighbor or even a doctor, make sure that he is aware of the fact that you don’t have time for drama or bs.  Dating a doctor can be a great, by the way but that’s something for another blog post.

Here are some tips on what to wear on your first date if you’re past your prime but still want to look attractive.

Find Your Best Feature and Accentuate It

This is a fact that is true for people of all ages: everyone has one physical trait that they’re most proud of. You need to think about what yours it and accentuate it as much as possible. Is it your legs? Wear something that shows them off. Do you have beautiful eyes? Try to use make-up that will further enhance their appeal. And speaking of make-up…

Wear Age-Appropriate Make-Up

I see a lot of women who are following Instagram MUA’s and trying to duplicate what they see. Let’s be honest, after a certain age, you shouldn’t be wearing 10 eyeshadows and looking 2 shades lighter.  Your skin is no longer what it used to be and besides looking like a crazy over made up teenager, your skin will probably not go for it. However, if you wear appropriate make-up, you can make the best out of your complexion. For example, try eye make-up that may a matte or in natural tones. Leave glittery neon colors for younger women. You should focus on looking classy and timeless while preserving your beauty.

Make a Statement with Your Accessories

Spice up any timeless black or nude clothing look with some classy accessories. It’s okay if they’re a little flashy too, just make sure not to overdo it. Think about what your favorite accessory is and play on that a little.

Do you love purses? A little black dress looks great with any color of purse, and you can even make a statement by choosing something trendy like gold or aqua. Do you like to wear jewelry all the time? Put on a statement necklace and you will make the most out of any basic outfit.

Above all, relax, have a good time and make sure that you when you walk in the place, heads will turn.
