The Ultimate Guide To Waking Up Gorgeous

Beauty / Sexy Mama / January 17, 2016

As I entered my 40’s, skin care became a top priority.  I have to admit that skin care had not been my priority in my 20’s and 30’s and I’m playing catch up now. I now have a routine that works for me which allows me to wake up gorgeous every morning and that will help you wake up gorgeous every morning, too!

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #1:  Wash Your Face

I know that sometimes our days are long and by the time we get dinner cooked, get the kids settled and have a moment to rest, all you want to do is lay down.  I have been there many times and before you know it, you sit down for a minute and the next minute, you are knocked out. As a habit, when you come in from work, change your clothes and wash your face right away.

Boots No 7 Beautiful Skin Age Defence Cleanser

You have to start with a clean slate, so washing your face is a must.  I love Boots No 7 Beautiful Skin Age Defence Cleanser.  I love the fact that it has alpha-hydroxy acids which helps to revive my skin and makes it look more radiant. It is also great at removing makeup.

Ponds Original Fresh Wet Cleansing Towelettes

I also keep a box of Ponds Original Fresh Wet Cleansing Towelettes next to my bed to use when I’m too tired to move. These are great at removing makeup and are infused with Vitamin E and a Triple Anti-Oxidant complex which leaves my skin feeling clean.

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #2:  Prep Your Skin

For the ladies over 40 and even for those in their 30’s, before you apply your moisturizer, apply a retinoid.

My go to is Philosophy’s Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Pads. I swear by the fact that keeps my skin looking youthful.

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #3:  Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize…Did I Say Moisturize?

Ladies, no matter what your age, you have to moisturize. After you wash your face, moisturize…all the time…every day!

Boots No 7 Restore and Renew Night Cream.

My personal favorite is Boots No 7 Restore and Renew Night Cream.

While we should always use a moisturizer during the day, you want to use something a little heavier at night. For me, Boots No 7’s Restore and Renew is great because it helps to reduce my fine lines and makes my skin glow.

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #4:  Lather Up, Butter Cup

Don’t forget the rest of your body.  After your shower or bath, use baby oil or body oil while your skin is wet to lock in moisture.  This is the best thing for dry skin, especially during the cold winter months.

Neutrogena Body Oil

I have used Neutrogena Body Oil for years and my skin is soft as a babies (no kidding)!  It absorbs quickly and you can even put a few drops into your bath water.

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #5:  Beauty Pillows

Anti Wrinkle Beauty Pillow

Yes, Beauty Pillows! I know some of you may think that I’m crazy but hear me out.

Beauty pillows are a real thing and they can help prevent sleep wrinkles and the main reason that I use one is that they don’t absorb the products that I use on my face at night. I have tried two and my favorite one is Anti Wrinkle Beauty Pillow.

Waking Up Gorgeous  – Tip #6:  Get Some Sleep

There is a reason why they call it, “Beauty Sleep.”  Sure, we can all function on 4-5 hours but you have to admit that by noon you need a nap.  When you get at least 7-9 hours a night of sleep, you feel and look revitalized. Your eyes aren’t puffy and they won’t have dark circles under them.

According to WedMD, “If you’re getting fewer than 6 hours, it’s likely affecting your appearance, says Michael Breus, PhD, a board-certified sleep specialist. Start getting 1 to 3 more hours of Zzz’s, and you could see some improvement in as little as a day. Keep it up, and “within 2 to 3 weeks, people will notice that you’re sleeping better by the way you look,” Breus says.

I am a loyal user of No. 7 products :-). Funny, before we moved, Neutrogena sesame oil was my favorite too. Great advice, words to live by.

No 7 products are the best. Did you substitute the sesame oil with anything else?

I never wash my face at night, unless I have make up on. I should probably start. Getting enough sleep does wonders to our bodies!

These are excellent tips. I definitely need to do more face washing before bed, I often find myself passing out after I get home and not giving my face the attention it deserves 😀

I’m always looking for ways to improve my skin, I’ve never heard of tip #2. But I’m willing to try it.

Ok, the pillow is new to me. I’ve got to check it out.
I’m horrible about starting & keeping my skin care regimen.

I have been dying to try No7 products! Can’t believe that I have not already. Proper skin care is a must!

These tips are so true, and Ill have to look into the beauty pillow – I’ve never heard of that. But I stepped my skin care up once I hit my 30s to get a head start.

on January 19, 2016

As I approach my 30s I am seeking more night time moisturizing creams! I never heard of a beauty pillow I have one for my hair but for the face is a good idea too!

on January 19, 2016

Great tips. Yes, we must get rest. Being worn out shows up so very easily on our skin. Thanks for the product info!

Great info I use Philosphy on my face. I have the fulls system. I’ve been using it for a year or so now and I love it.

on January 23, 2016

Thanks for this! I forgot all about the Neutrogena body oil. I definitely need a retinoid and a night cream.
