30 Ways To Show Kids You Love Them Without Saying It

Parenting / Single Moms Talk / March 5, 2015

Valentine’s Day has come and gone and those special gestures of showing your boo have come and gone but what about your kids?  As moms, we always love on our babies and show affection but have you ever thought about the little “extras” that can be done to show kids you love them on a daily basis without even having to say those three words?

Feeling loved doesn’t just apply to adults but is very important to the self-esteem and self-assurance of children.  I know as a single mom, life gets so busy at times and as I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to play the role of both parents, I have to reel myself back in and remember that just saying I love you isn’t what it’s all about as a parent but its the little things that you do to show your child that they are loved that they will remember for a lifetime.

Here are a few ways to show kids you love them through your actions….

  1. Wake them up with kisses
  2. Ask them how their day was and LISTEN
  3. Compliment the outfit that they picked out
  4. Put special notes in their folders or lunch
  5. Tell them how smart they are
  6. Send them a card or letter in the mail
  7. Let them make the plans for the day and go with it
  8. Go on a “Mommy and Me” date
  9. Take then a “special” lunch to school
  10. Hold their hand (even when they are teenagers)
  11. Cook together
  12. Cuddle and watch a movie together
  13. Tell them how proud you are to be their mom
  14. Say I’m sorry when you mess up
  15. Play video games together
  16. Play dress up
  17. Be silly together
  18. Sing their favorite song really loud in the car together
  19. Completely unplug and hang out with them
  20. Talk about what it was like when you were growing up
  21. Make them a priority
  22. Forgive mistakes
  23. Brag about and display their art work and awards
  24. Be their biggest cheerleader
  25. Tell each other jokes’
  26. Pray together’
  27. Trust them
  28. Never be “too busy” for them
  29. Keep your promises
  30. Always listen to their dreams and help them accomplish them

I could go on and on but I would like to hear from you.

YES!!! I love this list, I always tell my kids, saying you love someone, doesn’t mean a lot, you have to SHOW you love them. Like listening to mommy, means you love her, so she doesn’t have to go crazy, lol.
