Ladies everywhere have been talking about it, especially after watching the now infamous episode of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta where Kirk and Raasheda had an argument and she told him to, “Do You!”  Kirk, her husband, took those 2 words as his wife giving him a pass to cheat.  Since then, women everywhere have been wanting to know, what does “I’m doin’ me” mean?

“Listen Up, Ladies” is a weekly series (every Monday), in which Jay from Up4Discussion will be answering the questions that you have submitted and responding to the varies scenarios that you have asked for the male perspective on.  To have your questions or scenarios featured, you can either leave them in a comment or email them to

Ladies, Did Jay answer your question? Did he put it in perspective?

Guys, Did Jay keep it 100 with the ladies? Would you add anything?

Wow, great video. I really like how you gave women a way to ask. I think this is a great time to have that discussion. The ideal time is before the couple gets into an argument. Ladies will really want to pin it down to what it means to their guy. Guys can be really slick when it comes to how they use words. I call them Relationship Lawyers. Some are better than Johnny Cochran in his prime. Pin him down and do not allow for wiggle room. Then you can hold him to his word.

    ‘Relationship Lawyers’ I like that!

You’re right. A woman has to get her man’s specific interpretation of the phrase. That’s the only way she can truly understand what’s meant by it if or when he decides to use it.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to watch the video and share your input Shawn. I greatly appreciate that.

Let's Talk! I want to know what you think?
