It’s a Win Win for Oprah and Tyler Perry

Entertainment & Celebrities / October 3, 2012

I have to hand it to her, Oprah is about her money! In a continued effort to turn around her OWN network, Tyler Perry has signed a multi-year agreement making it his “singular destination for all new television series and products.”  This will include two shows which will be executive produced, written, and directed by Perry.  They will premiere in 2013.

“I have been looking forward to the day when we would be in the position to enter the world of scripted television. That day has come,” Winfrey said about the deal.  “We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series. He has an incredible ability to illuminate life stories and characters in his unique voice and inspires and encourages people all over the world.”

Perry on the new deal, “It’s a dream realized to partner with Oprah and bring scripted programming to OWN,” Perry added. “She has accomplished so much with the network and I’m excited to work with her to be a part of its continued growth.”

I must admit, this is smart move for both of them.  I am looking forward to seeing these new shows.

I called it a few months ago on my blog that they needed to work together I think they can each benefit from the partnership. I love OWN and I need a few more shows on there.
