Catch Me Elsewhere
Have you tried blind dating, online dating, speed dating, and everything else to put yourself out there in the dating world, but you still haven’t found “The One”?
You’re not alone. Many women nowadays have a hard time finding a partner who can commit to them and whom they can also commit to. Although 61% of unmarried Americans and 29% of divorced Americans want to get married, they’re not ready to commit to that kind of lifestyle yet (or again).
This situation can send a woman into a panic and push her to go to great lengths just to meet her elusive soulmate. But is finding a life partner worth the trouble? Here are some extreme stories of women who placed their hearts and lives on the line just to find love.
The Online Boo from Hell
Ingrid Lyne met John Charlton online. Throughout the 6 to 8 weeks of dating Charlton online, Lyne didn’t sense anything wrong with him. “She didn’t see any red flags. She would have never ever taken a risk if she thought there was,” said Lyne’s friends.
And so, Lyne did not hesitate to accept Charlton’s invitation to watch a Mariners game.
A day later, Lyne’s chopped up remains were found in a recycling bin in her hometown, and the suspect was none other than Charlton. This was kind of ironic, considering that Charlton’s online dating profile says he’s a Christian who’s into the mellow and quiet scene.
The key takeaway here is that, no matter how nice a person is online (or even offline), always take the necessary precautions to protect yourself when dating someone online. You can even go as far as doing a background check on your date, as you’ll never know when the person you’re having dinner with is a psychopath or a killer.
The Face of Love
Heard about stories of women who get back at their exes by giving themselves a total makeover? Well, a 15-year-old girl from China took getting even to a whole new level by undergoing extreme plastic surgery on her face and body in the hopes of winning her ex-boyfriend back. Currently, her appearance looks too doll-like and unreal.
Sadly, it seems like no amount of physical enhancement can make someone (who doesn’t want you anymore) love you again. Despite the girl’s efforts, her former flame didn’t come running back to her. However, she did become an internet sensation with over 400,000 followers as of April 2015 on her Weibo account.
Moral of the story: if you’re thinking that having a prettier face and a sexier body will get your ex to love you again, that may not happen. So don’t waste time trying to primp yourself up for your past flame. If you’re going to do a makeover, do it for yourself—not for anyone else.
More Tips on Finding “The One”
Here are a few helpful things you should keep in mind when looking for your perfect match:
Finding the right guy might be difficult at this point of your life, but don’t let the quest get you down. And if you have certain standards that you want your future guy to live up to, don’t settle for anything less just because of peer pressure or your longing for intimacy. Don’t let your desire to find love endanger who you are. Your relationship with yourself is always more valuable than your relationship with a man.
