I have always loved Vegas so when it was time to plan my 43rd birthday, Vegas was a no brainer. So Viva Las Vegas, it was!!
We initially planned to leave on Friday but decided that we should leave on Thursday so that more fun could be had. So, we left on Thursday and thank God, my friend that decided to drive has a Navigator because we brought so many pieces of luggage that you would have thought that we were staying for a month but a girl has to have options especially in Vegas, right?
Our first night in Vegas, we stayed at Aria which is an absolutely beautiful hotel. When you put your key in the door and walk in, the drapes automatically open and the lights all come on.
The room was beautiful and everything in the room was controlled by this tablet. Very cool, right?
Vegas is always about the turnup and the goal was to make my 41rd birthday, one that I wouldn’t forget and trust me..we started it off like this….
We decided to hit up a neo-soul pool party downtown and had a great time. Being single women (at least some of us) in Vegas you would think that we would have our pic of men but yeah…NOPE…at least not at this spot. It was filled with locals and when I say, none of them looked like nothing…honey, not one!
Any who, the party was cool and I had the opportunity to hang out with my brother who lives in Vegas. After the party, we were starving and decided to grab dinner at Javier’s in our hotel. Now, when I tell you that food was the BOMB…honey, it was so damn good!! I don’t know what they put in that salsa but it was the BEST salsa I have ever had. The Strawberry Margaritas were on point but although it was a Mexican restaurant and being the carnivore that I, I had to order a steak. Let me tell you, that steak was better than mine and there aren’t too many steaks that come close to my rib eyes, honey! IJS!
The highlight of the evening was spending time with my girl’s. We laughed the entire night.
Friday morning, we hit up everyone’s favorite restaurant when they visit Vegas, The Peppermill. If you have never been there, you have to go at least once. When I visit Vegas, I go at least once and on this trip, we went twice. It’s open 24 hours and has something for everyone. Breakfast was great and then we went to one of the highlights of the trip, a spa day at Canyon Ranch Spa in the Venetian, which by the way, is the hotel we were staying at for the remainder of our trip.
The Canyon Ranch Spa is one of the largest day spas in the world and it was just as amazing as it was when I first say it on Eye on LA, years ago and I promised myself that I would go to this spa one day. (Don’t act like you never watch Eye on LA, if you live in California!)
All of us had massages scheduled and we could not wait to try their Aquavana environments which include:
The massages were amazing and the spa was incredible. We ended up spending the entire day there and were so relaxed by the time we left, that we were totally in the right mind space for the second highlight of my birthday trip…The Babyface and New Edition concert, but first dinner at Yardbird which was located in our hotel.
Yardbird is the business!! We sat at the Chief’s Table and we were able to try most of the things on the menu. I ordered the fried chicken and mac n cheese and let me tell you that chicken was so damn juicy and the hot sauce!! The need to bottle it and sell it!
We also tried the Deviled Eggs, St Louis Pork Ribs and the Classic Buttermilk Biscuits with house made jam that my friends described as tasting like Christmas. The restaurant manager got a kick out of that. What was even better than the chicken was my birthday cake which had bacon cream cheese icing…LAWD!!!
What was even better than the cake was my birthday gift from my girls…a gift card to Glen Ivy! Score!
Dinner was terrific but it was time for the highlight of my birthday weekend…the New Edition and Babyface concert! I have wanted to see New Edition in concert for foreva!! I had been waiting for this part of the weekend for months and New Edition did not disappoint. Just look at the pics…
The only member missing was Bobby but the guys still put on an awesome show, even singing songs from their individual albums.
The New Edition concert was off the hook but we weren’t done yet. We headed over to Drai’s Nightclub on the strip to see Jeremih perform.
Two concerts in one night? Yep, we did that but not only did we see him perform but we had bottle service and VIP.
That night the turnup was unreal and we had a ball. I don’t think we made it back to the room until about 5 in the morning!
Wait…I forgot to show my outfit for the night….
I love this dress from Eloquii.
You can not do Vegas in the summer time without hit up a pool, so we decided to go hangout at Tao Beach at The Venetian. It was a lot of fun and doesn’t hurt when you get hit on by guys who are half your age, right?
After hanging out at the beach, we decided to explore our hotel a bit. The Venetian is such a beautiful hotel, I mean, you actually feel like you are in Paris.
You can’t believe that I’m 43, huh? Me, either! LOL!
My BFF & I…
We wanted to get dressed up and hit the club because, that’s just what you do when you are in Vegas. We decided on Tao because it was in our hotel and we didn’t have to go to far. I must admit, it was WACK! We stayed about an hour but we were cute, though!
We ended up at some hole in the wall club after we left Tao but still had a good time and didn’t make it to bed until 5 o’clock in the morning again. We probably got a good fours of sleep in before it was time to hit the road and like all things in life…good things must come to an end. Until next time, Vegas…
How did you spend your last birthday?
