Oprah’s Winfrey’s final answer to marriage is No! She will never marry long time boyfriend, Stedman, despite the urging from her good friend, Tina Turner.
When asked by Access Hollywood if she would leave this earth as a “never married” woman, Oprah’s response was “Yes” and went on to add, “Yeah. I think that’s my final answer.”
During Tina Turner’s wedding to German music producer, Erwin Bach, Oprah wondered if maybe marriage could be in her future. She told Shaun Robinson from Access Hollywood,
I think that it’s interesting that you would ask it because I thought about it again at Tina Turner’s wedding.
Because Tina was like, ‘Oprah, you need to do this.’ Well it took her until 75 to do it. Now you’re telling me that I need to do it. I was just thinking would things really be different? I don’t think so. My final answer is I’m going to leave this earth as a never married woman and that’s really okay with me. Stedman would tell you Shaun, if you ever interviewed him, he would tell that had we married, we would not be together.
Oprah went on to say that her relationship with Stedman is “a very untraditional relationship.” She continues,
I think it’s acceptable as a relationship, but if I had the title of ‘wife,’ hmmm, I think there would be some other expectations of what a wife is and what a wife does. First of all you have to come home sometimes. I think it’s time for this interview to end.
I have to say that I am not surprised. I never though Oprah would marry Stedman or anyone else for that matter. Hey, I can’t even be mad at Oprah, when she feels like being bothered she can call Stedman, when she wants to be alone and do her thing, she can do that to without the “expectations” that come along with being a wife.
