Today we celebrate the birthday and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As I sit and write this, I can only imagine what it was like to live during the Civil Rights Movement and be able to actually see, hear and be in the presence of such greatness. I also think about how terrifying it must have been to live during that era as a person of color. As the mother of a son, the fear that a mother may have felt when sending her son out into the world every day and praying that he returned home safely every day and not be killed because of the color of his skin.
My generation, has no idea what it was like to live during this time and I thank God for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for giving his life to change the world that we live in. Because of his sacrifice, today and everyday I intend to “keep moving forward” by whatever means necessary. Thank you Dr. King, you are appreciated.
