Pussycat Dolls, lead singer and former X Factor judge, Nicole Scherzinger reveals her addiction was bulimia on VH1’s “Behind the Music.” Scherzinger tells the world about her battle with the eating disorder while a member of the Pussycat Dolls.
On tonight’s episode of ET, Scherzinger told the audience, “My bulimia was my addiction…hurting myself was my addiction. I never did drugs. I was kinda doing stuff to myself…was my addiction. Then I would come back to my room and be alone, so I would just do things…”
Scherzinger reveals on “Behind the Music that she has never spoken about it. “It’s embarrassing. I never spoke about it…like I said, I never want to play a victim.”
Things started to really go bad in 2003 when the Pussycat Dolls were about to go on tour. “I got my outfit and my outfit was a bra and some underwear and some garters and I’m like, ‘I can’t do this.”
She spiraled out of control for 8 years, binging and purging. “…you get blisters on your hands and scars on your hands and stuff and you try to hide them.” Her band members admitted that they knew what was going on in 2009. They began to see the scars from the acid burns on her fingers.
“I just hated myself. I hated myself. I really was so disgusted with myself and really so embarrassed. I felt so alone. I was in a group and I never felt so alone in my life.”
